Richmond Hill City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM.  More information can be found at www.richmondhill-ga.gov

Richmond Hill Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month in Richmond Hill City Hall at 7:30 PM

County Commissioners meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 1:30 PM for more information check out www.bryancountyga.org

Richmond Hill Convention and Visitors Bureau meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 8:30am at the CVB Office.  More information can be found at www.richmondhillvisit.com

Richmond Hill Exchange Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the City Center at 12:00 PM.  New members are welcomed to join.  Contact Laura Evans 756-5113 www.rhxc.org

Richmond Hill Rotary Club meets weekly on Thursdays at 12:00 PM at the City Center Women's Business Alliance meets second Wednesday of month at rotating locations at 8:00 AM www.wbarichmondhill.com

Richmond Hill Lions Club meets on fourth Thursday, 7:00 PM each month except Nov and Dec. We meet at different locations for dinner. Contact: Ron Stover 756-3518

Wednesday (April 13) Large Item Trash Pick-up.
 
Thursday (April 14) – Large Item Trash Pick-up.
 
Friday (April 15) – Large Item Trash Pick-up.
 
This opportunity is only available for the city of Richmond Hill current water account users in residential zoning areas only.  Curbside pickup will include large items such as appliances, furniture and other bulky items not normally picked up by the regular trash service. All city residents should place their items on the curbside Wednesday morning by 7 a.m. for pickup.
The following items will not be collected: tires, hazardous waste items, paint, refrigerators, freezers, oil or oil based products, grease products, batteries, gas or gas-based products, lawnmowers, freon or freon-based products.
 
 
Saturday (April 16) – Fishing Derby in J.F. Gregory Park. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and fishing begins at 8 a.m. Refreshments furnished. Sponsored by the Fort McAllister Sport Fishing Club and the City of Richmond Hill.

4th Annual Easter Extravaganza

Saturday, April 23

11:00am

Hosted by New Beginnings Community Church in J.F. Gregory Park.  This event has a 25,000 Easter egg hunt, inflatable rides, picture with the Easter Bunny, live entertainment, and a free cookout.  More info 308-7635

The city sponsors a variety of community events throughout the week, including a business breakfast, weekend activities, such as music in the park, art in the park, a fishing derby in the park and much more.  The theme of this year’s Georgia Cities Week is “Energy to Transform” highlighting Georgia cities role in contributing to the state’s conservation to preserve the quality of life.

 

 

 

 

Annual Memorial Day Observance

The city of Richmond Hill will host a Memorial Day Observance in J. F. Gregory Park on Memorial Day at 11 am.  Representatives from local veteran’s organizations will speak at the ceremony.  A special guest speaker will be present.  All are welcome to attend to honor those veterans who died while serving their community and country.

Experience life as the common Confederate soldier.  Topics will include what he ate, how he lived, what he wore and the medicine of the day. Also included will be musket and cannon firing demonstrations.  

 

 

Summer Camps:

 

 

              YMCA:  Camp will run for 11 weeks. March 1st Summer Day Camp registration begins. YMCA Summer Day Camp and Specialty Camp information packets will be available at the Richmond Hill YMCA front desk.

Old Time Family 4th of July Festival & Fireworks

Come celebrate the Fourth of July with great food, live entertainment, fireworks, crafts, and a variety of fun.  Sponsored by the Richmond Hill Recreation Association, as their annual fundraiser, it will take place at J.F. Gregory Park with events offered throughout the day and evening.

Troops salute fallen soldiers.  Come and celebrate our Nations birthday with civil war troops as they fire special salutes for those who have died so we may be free. Also join us for games of the day and a cool slice of melon.

Experience Fort operations.  Come and enjoy as the Fort McAllister soldiers do their daily chores around the fort. From black- smith to wood worker all trades were needed to keep this fort in operation. Learn about civil war cooking. and common soldier life. Bring a lunch and spend the day.

Candle Lantern Tour of Ft. McAllister

Experience Fort life at night.  You have seen the fort by day light now come and experience it by candle light. Walk through these historic grounds and watch the soldiers going through their nightly duties and chores. Be sure to stay with your guide or you may be captured as a spy.

RH Methodist Church presents the best BBQ in the south.  Register early or pick up onsite ribs, BBQ and sauce, and Boston butts for the whole family to enjoy.  Live local entertainment and an auction are some of the featured attractions.

 

 

 

 

Annual Chili Cook-off

6:30 to 9:00pm

Gather together with the entire family and watch the Christmas parade make its way through the streets of downtown Richmond Hill.  Local businesses and residents are encouraged to participate or come out and celebrate the holidays. Christmas on the Ogeechee Boat Parade
