The City of Richmond Hill is excited to announce its Spotlight Employee of the Quarter...

She was hired into the newly created position almost 7 years ago.  Here’s a little bit of her story….

When trying to figure out life and what field to enter, she knew she wanted to help people in some capacity.  Social work was an option, however her husband, Keith Harney, stated he did not think that would be a good fit as she would bring work home with her and be too attached to the people she was helping.  Funny….she said that still happened.

After completing her BS with a concentration in HR from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, she and her husband relocated to Raleigh/Durham, NC. During their time there, she completed her MBA from the University of Phoenix Online while working full time. After Keith completed his undergrad as an adult returning student from NC State University, he received a job offer which relocated them to Maryland. After almost 3 years in MD, it was time to move to Georgia and focus on her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification. Time to get to work, applying her new skills and pursue her HR career.

She loves researching issues and educating employees on the law, benefits or any number of other things.  HR is an ever-changing field and there is always something new to learn. No two days are ever the same.

The City of Richmond Hill has a very similar feel to a town close to where she grew up in Schuylerville, NY.

Her favorite part of the City is JF Gregory Park, where she can spend time with her family and still help out during City functions.  If you have worked for the City more than 5 years, you may be aware she and her husband went from ZERO kids to TWO kids in one week!  Yes, they adopted a brother (Isaiah), age 5 and sister (Alysa), age 4 that they had never met.  Keith and Pam had many life adventures; however this was one for the books!  Life changing for everyone is an understatement!  The kids are still getting to know them after 5 years, even as much as they are together.  Although there are challenges more so than with other families, they are very proud to be the parents of Isaiah and Alysa Harney.

Some day, when the kids are older or maybe when the Grandparents can watch them for an extended period of time, Keith and Pam would like to go to Hawaii and cross that off their bucket list.  Before kids, Keith and Pam went on an Alaskan cruise, which was another bucket list item.

She is very proud to work for the City and call the employees “hers."  She takes a great deal of pride in her work and gives it her all no matter what day or time it is.
