Mayor Richard R. Davis

Mayor Davis was born July 1, 1935 at Clyde, Ga. son of Madlene C. and the late Rad Davis. The family moved to Ways Station in 1941 upon the creation of Camp Stewart. Davis attended public school in Bryan County and after finishing school, he worked very briefly at Sears and Union Camp. He worked for the U.S. Air Force as a civilian employee for two years before becoming an employee of NCR Corporation, where he worked for over 22 years. In 1979 he took a position with Datapoint Corporation and subsequently with Intelogic Trace Inc. He started his own computer business: Southern Computer Resources in 1993.
Davis was instrumental in incorporating the city of Richmond Hill in 1962. He has served as President of the Jaycees, Lions Club and Exchange Club. He has been a member of the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church since 1956 where he has served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and church Lay Leader.
Davis was elected to the City Council in 1979 and served the city in this capacity for 10 years, including 8 years as Mayor pro-tem. He was elected to the Mayor's office in 1989. He was recently re-elected and is serving his 5th term as Mayor of the City of Richmond Hill. He has also been a board member of the Regional Development Council of Coastal Georgia for 18 years.
Mayor Davis has been married to the former Christine Black for 51 years. They have two sons: Dean and Chris and 4 grandchildren.
