Phase 1 of the Historic Henry Ford Scenic Streetscape will consist of raised vegetative medians along US Highway 144, from Cedar Street to the CSX railroad. On the medians will be planted various vegitiation. Along Highway 144 (Ford Avenue), the city will place park benches and coordinated trash receptacles. Existing street light poles and fixtures will be replaced. Existing sidewalks in the project area will be demolished and brick pavers/press concrete will be added to re-form sidewalks to historic ambiance from the railroad tracks, through the municipal complex to Cedar Street.
Improvements on Richard R. Davis Drive will enhance the entrance to the local government complex extending from Highway 144 to J. F. Gregory Park entrance. A crosswalk of pressed concrete will be installed on Highway 144 (Ford Avenue) at Cedar Street.
A grassy pedestrian buffer will be created on Richard R. Davis Drive. That will provide a gathering place for pedestrians, for picnicking and conversation.
