What’s a UDO?

  • All land development regulations in one place
  • Emphasis on zoning
  • Divides city into districts- Residential, Commercial, Industrial
  • Regulates items such as, but not limited to:
    • Use
    • Signs
    • Parking
    • Buffering
    • Landscaping
    • Building location
    • Lot size and width 

What’s New?

  • Districts- fewer zoning districts, some new, some eliminated
  • Allowed Uses- relate to district purpose, less overlap between districts
  • New PUD - replaced PD2 with flexible, incentive-based tool
  • Mixed-use Districts- encourage redevelopment, walkability
  • Procedures- clarify and reduce number of steps for reviews
  • Standards- defined criteria for decisions, more specificity
  • Tree Preservation- protect significant trees, replacement requirements
  • Landscaping- buffering, street tree, screening specifications
  • Delegation- delegate some reviews to staff, Planning Commission or ARB
  • Readability- reorganized, new format, color and graphics
