A Message from Bryan County Schools: (October 1, 2024 11:30 AM)
We hope this message finds you and your family safe and well. As we continue to navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, our priority is to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, our
north Bryan (Pembroke Area) schools remain without power and will stay closed until students return from fall break,
Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Additionally, approximately 40-50% of our staff who support these schools are also
still without power and unable to return to work as well as some roads are impassable for buses.
On a brighter note, all of our south Bryan (Richmond Hill area) schools have power restored, and will return to normal operations tomorrow.
We recognize that many families across both north and south Bryan are still dealing with the storm's impact, and we want to support you as much as possible during this challenging time. Our goal is to bring a sense of normalcy back to our students and families where we can. With that in mind, the south Bryan/Richmond Hill area schools will reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, October 2nd, including:
Richmond Hill Primary School
Richmond Hill Elementary School
Frances Meeks Elementary School
McAllister Elementary School
Richmond Hill Middle School
Richmond Hill High School
For families in the Richmond Hill area who are unable to return due to ongoing storm-related challenges, please know that any absences will be excused. Take the time needed to prioritize your family’s safety and well-being.
Before/afterschool and Community Education programs in the Richmond Hill area will operate as usual. However, these programs will remain suspended in the Pembroke area until further notice.
Our hearts are with everyone still recovering. To our north Bryan/Pembroke families, we are thinking of you as you continue to navigate this difficult time.
